Tennis: Bulldogs post EIAC road win at Rushville

The Batesville tennis team traveled to Rushville to take on the Lions Tuesday. The Bulldogs came away with a 5-0 win against a scrappy Rushville team who fought hard at all five positions, according to Batesville Coach Taylor.

At No. 1 singles, Batesville's Caleb Mohr defeated Rushville's Clayton Chase 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Batesville's Jevan Smith knocked off Rushville's Kaceik Lunsford 6-2, 6-2. Batesville's Carson Meyer won the No. 3 singles match against Rushville's Brady Martz 6-3, 6-3.

Batesville's Wes Peters and Lincoln Garrett posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles against Rushville's Joel Downey and Max Reynolds. At No. 2 doubles, Batesville's Landon Raver and Owen Westerfeld shut out Rushville's Jakob Sloan and Josh Campbell 6-0, 6-0.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 11-4 (5-1 EIAC) on the season. The Bulldogs travel Saturday to Shelbyville.

Rushville vs. SW (Shelby)

The Lions evened their season record at 7-7 Monday with a 4-1 win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Rushville's Clayton Chase was defeated at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Kaceik Lunsford won 6-2, 6-1. Brady Martz blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Rushville's No. 1 doubles team of Joel Downey and Max Reynolds won 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Jakob Sloan and Josh Campbell won by those same scores 6-1, 6-0.

Batesville vs. Milan

The Bulldogs tennis team hosted the Milan Indians Monday and swept the varsity match. Batesville improves to 10-4 on the season.

Batesville did not give up a game in the singles matches. At No. 1 singles, Caleb Mohr won 6-0, 6-0 with Jevan Smith taking the No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and Carson Meyer matching those scores, winning at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Wes Peters and Lincoln Garrett cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Owen Westerfeld and Landon Raver posted a shut-out win at No. 2 doubles 6-0, 6-0.
