Merab Dvalishvili vows to 'beat the sh*t out of' Umar Nurmagomedov if they rematch

Merab Dvalishvili did not hold back when speaking about potentially running things back with Umar Nurmagomedov.

UFC bantamweight champion Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) handed Nurmagomedov (18-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) his first-career loss at UFC 311 when he rallied to beat him by unanimous decision in January.

Nurmagomedov will look to rebound when he takes on Mario Bautista (16-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) at UFC 321 on Oct. 25 in Abu Dhabi, whereas Dvalishvili makes his next title defense against Cory Sandhagen (18-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) in the UFC 320 co-main event Oct. 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"If he deserves the title fight again, if we fought again, I will destroy him," Dvalishvili said of Nurmagomedov on the "Full Send Podcast." "This time, I will beat the sh*t out of him. I won, so now I can talk about this. I was injured, my back was killing me, and then I had infection in my leg, and that was a very stressful training camp."

Dvalishvili explained where his heat toward Nurmagomedov originally stems from.

"Umar, I knew him a long time, and I always showed him my respect, and as men we don't care about anything else – we just want respect," Dvalishvili said. "I was always fighting the next contenders. I got here for my work. Umar, he's a good fighter, but he got pushed because of his cousin (Khabib) that hyped him. So when he disrespected me, I was mad about that.

"There are so many good fighters in the UFC like Bautista, but he has to work to get what he deserves (more) than everybody else. There are other guys who work very hard, but because they don't have a cousin like Khabib, they don't give him a title fight. He was disrespecting me, especially on Twitter and the internet. Yeah, I was very mad at him. That was personal for sure."
