Broadcast and streaming info
PFL Champions Series: Dubai takes place Friday at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
The card streams on ESPN Unlmtd at 11:30 a.m. ET and features two vacant PFL title fights at the top of the lineup.
Main event: Usman Nurmagomedov
- Record: 19-0
- Opponent: Paul Hughes (14-2)
- Division: Lightweight
- Key wins: Paul Hughes, Alexander Shabliy, Benson Henderson, Patricky Freire
- Misc.: Nurmagomedov beat Hughes in January by majority decision with his Bellator lightweight title on the line. Now that the PFL has just about wrapped up killing that promotion for no apparent good reason, the two will meet again for the vacant PFL title. Nurmagomedov was a 5-1 favorite in their first meeting and eked out a win on the scorecards. This time, he’s only a slight favorite around -150.
Main event: Paul Hughes
- Record: 14-2
- Opponent: Usman Nurmagomedov (19-0)
- Division: Lightweight
- Key wins: Bruno Miranda, A.J. McKee
- Misc.: Former Cage Warriors champ Hughes, from Ireland, made a name for himself with an upset of A.J. McKee a year ago. That got him his first fight with Nurmagomedov, in which he surprised the masses and nearly pulled a stunning upset. After the majority draw in January, he rebounded in May with a 42-second knockout of Miranda to get right back into a title fight.
Co-main event: Corey Anderson
- Record: 19-6
- Opponent: Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov (25-7-1)
- Division: Light heavyweight
- Key wins: Denis Goltsov, Karl Moore, Phil Davis, Ryan Bader, Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov, Johnny Walker, Glover Teixeira, Jan Blachowicz
- Misc.: Anderson’s win over Moore was for the vacant Bellator title while the PFL still dangled that promotion’s lifeline like a proverbial carrot. Now that the PFL needs titles of its own not tied to tournaments, Anderson gets the call in a rematch with Yagshimuradov, whom he stopped with a third-round TKO 4.5 years ago.
Co-main event: Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov
- Record: 25-7-1
- Opponent: Corey Anderson (19-6)
- Division: Light heavyweight
- Key wins: Impa Kasanganay, Rob Wilkinson, Rafael Carvalho
- Misc.: In 2021 in his Bellator debut, and after an 18-month layoff, Yagshimuradov was shut down by Anderson with a third-round TKO. He lost his Bellator follow-up, too, but then went on his current seven-fight tear, which included a 58-second knockout of Kasanganay to win the 2024 PFL light heavyweight tournament.
