How Brandt Snedeker is using Sanderson Farms Championship to decompress after Ryder Cup

After being a vice captain on the United States’ 2025 Ryder Cup team, Brandt Snedeker doesn’t have high expectations for his performance at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

“I haven’t touched a golf club for a while because of the past week,” he told the Clarion Ledger.

Snedeker is a part of the 132-man field that will compete in the PGA Tour event at the Country Club of Jackson from Oct. 2-5.

Snedeker, 44, was a Ryder Cup player in 2012 and 2016. With the high-stakes competition that lasted from Sept. 26-28 and resulted in a 15-13 loss for the U.S. over, Snedeker is grateful for the change of pace that playing in Mississippi will bring.

“Last week was just a long week,” he said. “It’s really stressful, a lot of emotions going on. A lot of preparation time went into it, and they’re long days. You’re out there with those guys … spending 18 hours, 19 hours with them. So to come to a week like this where you’re kind of in control of your own schedule … hopefully (I’ll) get a lot more rest than I did last week.”

Snedeker is hoping this week in Jackson helps take his mind off the losing Ryder Cup result and get him back into his normal preparation routine in “tournament-like conditions” for a PGA Tour event.

Snedeker finished the PGA Tour season at 129th in the FedEx Cup standings. Now participating in the FedEx Cup Fall events, he has the opportunity to work his way into the top 100 and maintain full PGA Tour status. Snedeker is currently 120th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings.

The Sanderson Farms Championship is the second of seven FedEx Cup Fall tournaments. Snedeker is hoping his familiarity with the course after playing the tournament the last five years will serve as an advantage.

“We still have a lot to play for out here,” said Snedeker, who is from Nashville, Tennessee. “These tournaments are still real big and important, and I’m trying to keep my card, trying to finish the year off on a strong note, and this golf course is a golf course that sets up really well for me. So, if I can get my game up to speed, even though I haven’t been practicing as much as I’d like to have, I’m excited about what the week can hold.”
