Callum Simpson will defend his European, British & Commonwealth super-middleweight titles against Troy Williamson in Leeds on 20 December.

The event at the First Direct Arena will feature Barnsley's Simpson making the first defence of his European crown since beating Ivan Zucco in June.

The 29-year-old is unbeaten in the first 18 fights of his career, but faces the English super-middleweight champion in Darlington's Williamson, who has won 21 of his 26 pro bouts.

The event marks the next chapter of the BBC's broadcast deal with Boxxer and will be shown live on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.

"Leeds is going to be bouncing with the Barnsley Army," said Simpson.

"Troy's a tough fighter but this is my time and I'm ready to prove again why I'm one of the most exciting boxers in Britain right now.

"To headline live on the BBC is massive and we're putting Yorkshire boxing back on the map at the same time."

Williamson last fought in September, beating Mark Dickinson, but has won only two of his last six fights – the 34-year-old's other victory in that run coming against Ramiro Blanco in 2023.

"Callum's had a great run but he's never faced anyone like me. I'm gonna ruin his Christmas," said Williamson.

"I've been in big fights, I've been the champion, and I know what it takes. This is my opportunity to show that I'm number one and to take the belts home with me."
