Raptors' Brandon Ingram fined $25K for spiking water bottle, spilling water onto court in loss to 76ers
Brandon Ingram’s water bottle throw has cost him.
The NBA fined Ingram $ 25,000 on Monday after he spiked a water bottle onto the court out of frustration during the Toronto Raptors' loss to the host Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. Ingram was sitting down onto the bench at Xfinity Mobile Arena when he took a plastic water bottle and “forcibly” threw it to the floor.
The bottle actually bounced back up and hit a game attendant in the face while spilling all over the court. Ingram didn’t react after the throw and just watched people wipe up the spilled water in front of him. Some of the water also hit forward Scottie Barnes, who jumped up off the floor and quickly walked away.

While the incident was minimal, it caused a slight delay in the game and spilled out onto the court. That will earn a punishment of some kind from the league every time.

Ingram got his start in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers after they took him with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft out of Duke in 2016. He signed a three-year, $ 120 million deal with the Raptors in free agency this past summer after a six-year run with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Ingram finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in the Raptors’ 130-120 loss to the 76ers on Saturday, which snapped a four-game win streak. The 28-year-old has averaged 21 points and 6.3 rebounds through 10 games this season in Toronto.
The Raptors will enter Tuesday’s game with the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night with a 5-5 record. The franchise went 30-52 last season and missed the playoffs for a third straight year.
