Belal Muhammad makes awkward Epstein files comparison at UFC media day
WHAT IN THE WORLD was Belal Muhammad thinking?
Early on during UFC Fight Night 265 media day in Qatar, Muhammad bragged about how he, at 37, kept up with UFC lightweight Ignacio Bahamondes and his 17-year-old brother, Alberth, during training camp. Then about 10 minutes later, a reporter asked Muhammad a seemingly innocuous question that yielded a standard answer β except for the reference to the Jeffrey Epstein files that made it awkward as hell.
The reporter asked, “How do you see your future in the division?”
“My future’s bright. I’m training with young monsters,” Muhammad said. Ignacio Bahamondes is probably 28, and I think he’s one of the best strikers in the UFC. Like I said, I’ve got a 17-year-old now, Nacho’s younger brother, who’s a monster. It feels like the Epstein files β without, you know, the sex. I’m getting their powers through sparring and training. It feels good. I love training every day with these guys, I’m learning from these guys, and I’m growing so much from these guys. The energy they bring, it makes me feel younger. I’m still young in this sport. My body feels good every single day when I wake up. I’m blessed to be where I’m at right now.”
If you think reading Muhammad’s answer made you cringe, well, here’s the clip (via X):

Sure, it was an attempt at humor. But comparing your own training to the world’s foremost pedophile? That’s certainly a choice!
Muhammad returns to the cage Saturday against Ian Machado Garry in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 265 (ESPN+). It’ll be Muhammad’s first fight since losing the welterweight title to Jack Della Maddalena this past May.
