Petr Yan had no problem fighting down in the rankings to prove he was still indeed a threat to the title.

In July, the former UFC interim bantamweight champion took on Marcus McGhee at UFC on ABC 9 in Abu Dhabi. At the time, Yan was ranked No. 3 in the UFC' official bantamweight's rankings; McGhee was No. 12. Although it seemed like a risky preposition for Yan, he showed why there was a discrepancy in the rankings with a unanimous decision.

Yan (19-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) returns to the octagon in the UFC 323 headliner Dec. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He challenges champion Merab Dvalishvili (21-4 MMA, 14-2 UFC) for the title in a rematch. Dvalishvili won their first fight in 2023 before he was champion.
