Nick Ball to defend WBA featherweight title against Brandon Figueroa in February
Nick Ball will make the fourth defense of his WBA featherweight title against Brandon Figueroa on February 7 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England, Queensberry Promotions announced Thursday.
Ball vs. Figueroa will stream on DAZN worldwide.
Ball (23-0-1, 13 KOs) won the title with a controversial split decision over Ray Ford in June 2024. The Liverpudlian made back-to-back hometown defenses, recording 10th-round stoppage wins over Ronny Rios and TJ Dhoeny before being pushed to the limit by Sam Goodman in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in August. The featherweight champ now returns to Liverpool to take on the mandatory challenger.
Figueroa (26-2-1, 19 KOs), a two-division world champion, heads into the fight in desperate need of redemption. It was far from an ideal 2025 campaign for Figueroa, who lost his WBC featherweight title to Stephen Fulton in their second meeting in February and then was fortunate to escape with a win over Joet Gonzalez in July. Prior to capturing the WBC featherweight crown, Figueroa held the WBC super bantamweight title, which he dropped in a unification fight with Fulton in 2021.
The fight has been billed as "A Tall Order" due to the significant height difference between the pair. Figueroa, regarded as a big featherweight, stands 5-foot-9; Ball, known for his small stature, is 5-foot-2.
“This is a great fight for Liverpool and an extension of our blockbuster beginning to 2026,” promoter Frank Warren said.
“We are so proud of Nick and what he has accomplished, and this is a glamour fight against a recognized American talent that he fully deserves to have in his home city."
