UFC returning to Shanghai for ‘Fight Night’ on Aug. 29, 2026
“The Red Dragon” is getting Octagon action once again.
For the second consecutive year, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is heading back to China for a Fight Night, with Shanghai set to host on Aug. 29, 2026.
Reporter Chris Presnell first shared the news after the Shanghai city bureau released its calendar of sporting events for 2026, officially listing UFC Shanghai.
In addition, a fifth season of Road to UFC has been greenlit. The semifinals for the show will take place a day prior, on Aug. 28, while the opening round is scheduled to kick off in May in Macau, China. For context, the finals for Season 4 of Road to UFC took place at UFC 325 in Sydney, Australia, and featured four bouts that opened the numbered event on Paramount+.
Last year’s UFC Shanghai delivered plenty of action, headlined by Zhang Mingyang vs. Johnny Walker, with Walker earning a second-round stoppage victory (watch highlights). The co-main event saw Aljamain Sterling defeat Brian Ortegavia unanimous decision. Other notable results included Charles Johnson knocking out Lone’er Kavanagh (watch highlights), Kyle Daukaus earning a return knockout win over Michael Pereira (watch it), and Sergei Pavlovich outpointing Waldo Cortes-Acosta.
