With Alex Pereira likely moving to heavyweight, a new 205-pound champion will be crowned in Miami this spring.

Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will vie for the vacant light heavyweight crown in the UFC 327 headliner, the Las Vegas-based promotion announced Friday night. UFC 327 takes place on April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami and will also see Joshua Van defend the flyweight strap against Tatsuro Taira in the evening’s co-main event. There was no mention of Pereira’s next move, though the popular Brazilian has been linked to fights agianst the likes of Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane for months now.

A handful of new fights were also confirmed on Friday, incouding Beneil Dariush vs. Manuel Torres at lightweight; Patricio Freire vs. Aaron Pico at feathweight; Mateusz Gamrot vs. Esteban Rivovics at lightweight and Kelvin Gastlum vs. Vicente Luque at middleweight.

Prochazka enjoyed a brief championship reign at 205 pounds in 2022 when he captured the belt with a fifth-round submission of Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. “BJP” was forced to vacate the title later that year after suffering a shoulder injury. The 33-year-old Czech Republic native has twice challenged for the belt since then, falling to Pereira via technical knockout at both UFC 295 and UFC 303. Prochazka is coming off finishes of Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree in his last two Octagon appearances.

Ulberg, meanwhile, has won nine consecutive UFC outings since dropping his promotional debut to Kennedy Nzechukwu in March 2021. A memorable 2025 propelled the City Kickboxing representative to the top of the contender’s queue, as he earned victories over former champ Jan Blachowicz and ex-title challenger Dominick Reyes.
