Nick Kyrgios has only featured in one competitive singles match this year, leaving more questions about where he stands within the sport.

Injuries have continued to be an issue for him since that remarkable run to the Wimbledon final in 2022. It’s been difficult for fans to see a player with his talent and energy stuck on the sidelines.

But Kyrgios has now given a promising update during an exclusive interview with Tennishead, hinting at a possible return and getting fans hopeful once again.

During the interview, Kyrgios also spoke highly of his new deals with Picklr and Vulcan. He’s become quite active in the pickleball scene, even launching his own line of paddles designed to match his high-energy style of play.

Given his profile and the attention he draws, Nick Kyrgios seems like a player who could step into any tournament when fit, even without a ranking.

With that in mind, there was interest in hearing what his next moves might be, especially with Wimbledon approaching—a venue he has a strong connection to.

Kyrgios spoke about the clay-court season and admitted it might be too soon for him this year. He told Tennishead: “The clay court and I have an interesting relationship—maybe not this year, but next year is a possibility.”

His outlook on Wimbledon was much more positive. He added: “I’m working toward Wimbledon and will be playing in Stuttgart and Mallorca this June.”

The chance to play on grass again remains a big motivation for Kyrgios. It’s another factor keeping him focused as he works towards feeling ready to compete once more.

Nick Kyrgios credits Craig Tiley’s leadership ahead of new role with USTA

Kyrgios also shared his thoughts on Craig Tiley, who recently took over as CEO of the USTA.

The South African, previously recognised for his success as tournament director of the Australian Open, now faces a new challenge: reshaping tennis culture in the US, much as he did in Australia.

Speaking about one of tennis’ key figures, Kyrgios had only positive things to say.

He praised Tiley for his approachability and expects big things for the US Open, given how well he managed the Melbourne event.

Kyrgios said: “Craig is one of the best, if not the best, TD. He understands the players, makes himself approachable and never says ‘no’; he always finds a solution or a middle ground.

“Over his years at the Australian Open, the tournament boomed, constantly evolved and improved every year. I can’t wait to see what he’ll do at the US Open.”
