Anastasia Potapova’s skimpy Wilson kit attracts attention at Linz

2023 Linz champion Anastasia Potapova has made big changes in 2026. She is now representing Austria instead of Russia and is wearing Wilson instead of Nike.

Wilson is known for its brilliant designs and colors. Marta Kostyuk and Victoria Mboko earn rave reviews for their Wilson kits. Kostyuk has become the face of Wilson tennis, and the relationship is so strong that Wilson made her wedding dress. The design was later modified for her 2024 Wimbledon kit.

Potapova’s kit

Potapova’s two-piece Wilson kit has less material than fans are accustomed to seeing. One fan noted that Potapova forgot her shirt.

Many players have worn two piece kits in the past, but they are less strappy on the top, tend to be longer, and show less skin in the abdominal area. Clay seems like the least likely surface to wear a two-piece kit since it is grainy, can fly around, and land on the skin. Falling down in clay in this kit could also be problematic.

On the Wilson site, Potapova’s top is classified as a sports bra paired with a skirt. Perhaps fans were distracted by other things at Indian Wells because Potapova wore this same kit.

Times have changed

I am old enough to remember when US women’s national soccer star Brandi Chastain was criticized for stripping down to her sports bra after winning the 1999 World Cup. Potapova is walking on the court in her sports bra. It is a different era of women’s athletic wear.

On the flip side, at least Potapova is showing variety. She is not wearing the signature blue hue from Lululemon, Adidas, and Nike this season.
