Norma Dumont wants Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes winner after UFC Vegas 116
LAS VEGAS – Norma Dumont wants to further prove herself as the next women's bantamweight title contender at UFC Fight Night 274.
Dumont (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) meets fellow contender Joselyne Edwards (17-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) in Saturday's co-headliner at Meta APEX (Paramount+), and if victorious, she will have a seven-fight winning streak inside the octagon.
If that happens, Dumont thinks her case is clear to fight Kayla Harrison or Amanda Nunes when they meet for the title, ideally this year.
"I think Kayla and Amanda have to fight so we can figure out who I fight next," Dumont told MMA Junkie and other reporters through an interpreter at Wednesday's UFC Fight Night 274 media day.
Although Dumont is on a roll, Edwards is as well. The Panamanian is riding a four-fight winning streak with all stoppages and is looking to elevate her own resume into title shot territory.
Dumont doesn't see that happening, however, and thinks she'll have many opportunities to get the win this weekend.
"She's a dangerous fighter, she's a strong fighter," Dumont said. "I think this fight is going to be a mix of standup and ground work. She's dangerous in both areas. There's also a lot of holes in her game. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to explore those holes and impose my will."
