In a bizarre announcement that seemed to blur the lines between professional wrestling and professional boxing, Misfits Boxing co-president and promoter Mams Taylor announced via social media Thursday that Andrew Tate will take over as CEO of Misfits Boxing — and will also make his debut in the ring for the promotion in a heavyweight bout against TV personality Chase DeMoor in December.

According to Taylor, Tate would be taking over as CEO from influencer and occasional boxer KSI, who’s also known as Olajide Olatunji. Taylor accused KSI of nearly sinking “the ship of Misfits Boxing” with his prolonged absences, adding that he had decided to replace him as CEO after a “board meeting.”

That replacement, according to Taylor, is Tate, a British-0American influencer who’s been charged with sexual assault in multiple countries. Tate was placed under house arrest in Romania in 2024 after he and his brother were accused of rape and human trafficking. Tate was freed in February and then traveled to the United States, where he was again accused of physical and sexual abuse in a civil complaint filed the following month in California.

Tate has also been accused of sexual assault in the U.K. and has had assets seized there in a separate tax evasion case. Tate has described himself as “absolutely a misogynist” and a sexist, saying women are “intrinsically lazy.” He faces numerous ongoing criminal and civil cases in at least three different countries.

And now he’s been named, at least publicly, as the CEO of Misfits Boxing.

As part of the announcement video posted to the Misfits Boxing account on Instagram, Tate said the move “wasn’t a hostile takeover, but it was certainly planned.” He said he would challenge DeMoor at a Misfits Boxing event in Dubai on Dec. 20, in a bout that’s being billed as an “MFB heavyweight title fight.”

DeMoor is an actor credited with seven professional boxing bouts, most of which took place in Tijuana, Mexico. Tate has claimed a kickboxing record of 76-9-1, but online record-keepers with the Sherdog Fight Finder say they can only confirm a record of 24-8.

The move is likely to generate some controversy, and the tone of the announcement suggested that was indeed the point. Tate has attempted to align himself with right-wing political figures in the past and remains a highly divisive figure due in part to his arrests for sexual assault and his vehemently misogynistic public comments.
