Artist calls out ATP for allegedly stealing artwork for Monte-Carlo Masters merch
Ukrainian artist Yana Boyko took to social media with allegations that the ATP and/or Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters stole her artwork for merchandise.
She says that she was not contacted by either entity and was stunned to see her artwork on a t-shirt at an on-site merchandise store.
The t-shirt is not for sale on the official Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters website.

Yana Boyko has legitimate complaint
In the post, Boyko showed a picture of her work and a tournament t-shirt in side-by-side photos, and the two look identical.
The piece has five cracked and broken tennis racquets in various states of disarray with broken strings and heads.
The quote appearing on the bottom of the t-shirt “When It’s More Than Just A Game” is taken verbatim from the bottom of her piece.
What is missing from the t-shirt but prominent on her original work is her name. It is printed near the top left racquet rim on her piece. In lieu of her name, the shirt has the Monte Carlo Country Club’s MCCC initials printed below the racquets.
X users encouraged Boyko to “lawyer up.”
Boyko posted the piece on her Instagram page showcasing many of her works on May 2, 2025. She must be a tennis fan because the sport is frequently the subject of her work.

How could this happen?
Boyko wants Monte-Carlo Masters tournament organizers to contact her immediately to resolve the issue. It is unclear what type of resolution she is seeking. She could want the shirts pulled off the racks, or Boyko could ask for monetary compensation for the unlawful and unauthorized use of her artwork.
Does the ATP Tour approve of merchandise designs and items for each tournament? Or is that task delegated to the individual tournaments?
The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is an ATP 1000-level tournament. It concludes on Sunday, April 12, but this issue may linger long after the final matches are played this year.
