Boys tennis roundup: Montevideo knocks off LQPV/D-B
Apr. 9—MADISON — The Montevideo boys tennis team defeated Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd 6-0 in a non-conference match Thursday.
The No. 1 singles match between Montevideo's Hudson Giese and LQPV/D-B's Patrick Banthol was suspended because of slippery conditions caused by snow with Banthol leading 6-1, 6-6. It'll be completed at a later date.
"And the first time I've ever had a match where it snowed the whole time," said LQPV/D-B head coach Austin Ireland.
Minnewaska's doubles teams swept the Braves at Benson.
Carson Beyer and Carter Myrom led the way for the Lakers at doubles, winning 6-0 and 6-1 against the Braves' Joey Wilcox and Felix van Ehren in their No. 2 doubles match.
Benson's Brandon Sondag earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Easton Palmer at No. 3 singles.
Minnewaska competes against Moorhead at 8 a.m. and Thief River Falls at 10:30 a.m. in a triangular on Friday at Courts Plus Tennis Center in Fargo, North Dakota. Benson plays at Montevideo at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
