Girls tennis: Litchfield Dragons duo finishes 2nd in state
Oct. 24—MINNEAPOLIS — Litchfield juniors Isla Dille and Molly Patten finished as runner-up in the Class A state doubles tennis tournament on Friday at InnerCity Tennis.
Dille and Patten entered Day 2 of doubles play by upsetting second-seeded Therese Bauer and Ryle Thieren of Lake City. They were the tournament's third seed and won 6-2, 6-3.
The duo then met top-seeded Addie Berman and Abbey Perry of Breck in the Class A state doubles championship. Berman and Perry won the title with a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
Minnewaska senior Alia Randt and junior Rachel Rankin, seeded fourth in the doubles bracket, also advanced to the semifinals where they lost 6-2, 6-1 to Berman and Perry. They then lost to Bauer and Thieren in the third-place match 6-1, 6-2 to finish fourthl.
Olivia Danielson, a Minnewaska senior who was unseeded and in the consolation semifinals, lost her match to unseeded Elizabeth Shores of Lake City. Shores won 6-2, 6-4.
