Golf: Moody, Day lead BHS over Chargers 155-172

North Decatur’s golf team hosted the final home match of the season Monday, taking on the Batesville Bulldogs on the Meadow Nine at North Branch Golf Course.

The Bulldogs posted a team total 155 to top North’s 172.

Batesville’s Jon Moody and Jackson Day shared medalist honors on the day, both carding an even par 36.

Other scores for the Bulldogs included Cooper Phebus 39, Landon Raver 44, Ian Hixson 44, Henry Koehne 51, Zach Allen 51 and Kaiden Eckstein 59.

Brayden Yeager led the Chargers with a career-low score of 37. His round included seven pars with five straight to start, one double bogey, and a birdie on the ninth to end his round. Owen Eldridge and Cooper Parmer both shot 44. Aiden Luttel provided the fourth varsity score of 47. Micah Smith shot 48 followed by Brady Mauer 50, Kobe Hoeing 56 and Trent Roell 56.

The Chargers play Thursday at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course against East Central and Jennings County.

Greensburg

Columbus North traveled to Greensburg in a preview for the upcoming sectional June 6 in which both teams will be competing. The Bull Dogs came out on top Tuesday 155-169 over the Pirates.

Greensburg’s Colten Schroeder earned medalist honors with a 36. Reece Beaver was next for the Pirates with 42. Logan Simpson carded 45. Brant Acra was a shot back with 46 followed by Reece Chapman 49 and Landon Huff 53.

“The boys were up and down tonight, but fell to a good Columbus North team,” Coach Gindling said. “We have some work to do to get the scores where we need them to be before sectional on June 6.”

The Bull Dogs were led by Austin Perry and Joseph Perkins, both with 38. Brady Schneider had a 39 and Reid Perry finished with 40.

Rushville

Tuesday, the Lions traveled to Hawk’s Tail Golf Course in Greenfield to take on New Palestine. The Dragons came away with the win160-189.

The Lions were led by Ryder Flannery with 45. Olek Jarosz shot 46. Aiden Philpot carded a 48. Vilho Weckman turned in a 50 and Griffin Norris rounded out the varsity with 52.

The Lions junior varsity fell to the New Palestine 190-215. Mason Mosburg led Rushville with 48. Ty Ellis carded a 53. Kyle Jacobs and Lancon Cain both shot 57 and Ian Griffith turned in a 60.

The Lions host Mt. Vernon Thursday in their final home match of the season at Arbor Crossing Golf Course in Connersville as they celebrate Senior Night.
