Jannik Sinner picks his top two game‑changing moments in tennis
Jannik Sinner has put together an impressive list of achievements over the past couple of years.
The Italian has already won four Grand Slams and 26 career titles, along with a spell at the top of the ATP rankings.
Sinner recently completed his first Sunshine Double, and another title run in Monte-Carlo could see him return to world number one.
Speaking in a Q&A with Lacoste, Sinner spoke about the two moments from his career so far that stand out most to him.
What are Jannik Sinner’s favourite moments?
Sinner has been a dominant force on the ATP Tour in recent years, picking up 26 career titles and four Grand Slams. And even though there are plenty of highlights to choose from, he’s clear about which two mean the most.
Speaking about his rise to world number one during the 2024 Roland Garros tournament, he said: “One when I reached No. 1 in 2024, it was during Roland Garros. I really enjoyed that moment.
“And the other one was when I won Wimbledon. It was not even a dream, because it was unrealistic when I was young to win such a big tournament.
“Winning the title with my parents there, my brother, great friends. It was for sure the happiest moment I ever had on a tennis court.”
Sinner held onto the top spot for more than a year before Carlos Alcaraz overtook him at the US Open later in September 2025.
It happened just months after Sinner’s win over Alcaraz in four sets at Wimbledon that July.
How Sinner reacted after becoming world number one
Sinner climbed to world number one after his quarter-final win over Grigor Dimitrov at Roland Garros in 2024.
He moved up to the top spot after Novak Djokovic pulled out of his own quarter-final match against Casper Ruud, and he recognised there were mixed emotions tied to that moment.
“It’s everyone’s dream to become No. 1 in the world; on the other hand, seeing Novak retiring here is disappointing for everyone. I wish him a speedy recovery,” he said at the time.
He added: “I try not to think about that too much because this is a tournament where I used to struggle a lot, especially in the last two years, so I’m happy to be in the semi-finals, try to enjoy it, and play my best tennis.
“It’s a special moment for me, and I’m very happy to share this with you guys, and all the people watching from home, especially in Italy. Let’s see what I can do on Friday.”
Sinner went out of Roland Garros in his next match, falling short against Carlos Alcaraz in an epic five-set semi-final.
