The Batesville girls’ tennis team opened the regular season with a 4-1 against Union County.

At No. 1 singles, Batesville’s Ava Walsman defeated Cassidee McCashland 6-3, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Batesville’s Aurora Mertz lost to Kehlan Baker 3-6, 6-1, (10-7). Batesville’s Addie Fledderman posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Abby Tipton.

Batesville’s No. 1 doubles team of Grace Walter and Grace Gutzwiller gave up just two games in knocking off Chloe Crabtree and Hazel Henke 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Batesville’s Liv Maddock and Maddie Haskamp shut out Camryn Stewart and Elly Frazier 6-0, 6-0.

Junior varsity winners for the Lady Bulldogs included Ellie Westerfeld and Addie Reding; Brynlie Oesterling and Ella Carpenter; Miki Gutzwiller and Lyle Struewing; Sophie West and Lilliana Adams; and Elizabeth Barry and Ishita Patel.
