LeBron James teases major announcement Tuesday with post mentioning 'The Second Decision'

In 2010, LeBron James shocked the basketball world by announcing he was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in an ESPN special titled "The Decision." On Tuesday, that special is getting a sequel.

James teased the "decision of all decisions" Tuesday in a post on X. The video clip attached to that post features the Los Angeles Lakers star sitting down in a chair on the court. It's meant to evoke James' original decision, in which he sat in a chair across from reporter Jim Gray.

But just to make it obvious that's what James was going for, he added the hashtag #TheSecondDecision to the post.

Given the open-ended nature of his post, there's no way to know what James will announce Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET. Considering James will be 41 in December, though, speculation will run rampant that James will make an announcement about the future of his playing career.

James hasn't been super forthcoming about the issue during training camp. When asked about retirement in September, James said he was excited to play for another season. He added that he knows the end of his career is "a lot sooner than later," but failed to expand on that.

Despite his age, James continues to play at a high level. Last season, James averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds with the Lakers. He helped lead the Lakers to the playoffs, where they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

Given the nature of social media these days, however, it's also possible James' post will wind up being a new ad or partnership. It's worth noting Tuesday is the start of Amazon's Prime Day, something James has promoted in the past

If James' announcement is not related to basketball, that might disappoint some fans, but … well, so did the original decision.
