Michael Kim comments on Brooks Koepka’s formal PGA Tour bid
Michael Kim’s profile on the PGA Tour continues to rise, and it is not just because of his golf.
Brooks Koepka, meanwhile, has been a major name in the sport for nearly a decade now, even after his move from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf in 2022.
Koepka officially left LIV Golf in December and is now searching for a regular spot to play, starting in 2026.
There has been talk about Koepka possibly playing on the DP World Tour next year, but things took an interesting turn recently.
He has put in an application to get his PGA Tour card back.
But he has plenty of boxes left to tick before any return becomes a reality.
Michael Kim reacts as Brooks Koepka seeks PGA Tour return
It is no surprise that Kim was among the first to comment on the news. The 32-year-old, well-known for his social media presence, often gives fans a look behind the curtain of life on tour.
Kim responded to the reports by posting on his X account: “Yooo, Brooks Koepka, practice round soon?”
He then followed up with another post saying: “Too soon?”
While Kim’s remarks were clearly light-hearted, there is a real possibility that he and Koepka could be teeing it up together before too long.
When could Brooks Koepka make his way back to the PGA Tour?
Koepka made the move away from the PGA Tour in 2022.
Recently, Hudson Swafford, who also made the jump to LIV that same year, shared some valuable perspective on the current landscape between the two sides.
Swafford lost his spot in LIV Golf in 2024 and has been without a clear direction since then.
Speaking on GOLF’s Subpar Podcast earlier this year, he outlined how things stand for those looking to return to the PGA Tour after leaving for LIV Golf.
“I’ve had some good back-and-forths with the PGA Tour, but then some wishy-washy.
“It’s still not set in stone. I know they’ve set up suspended until ’27, which I know they’re basing that on a couple of people’s contracts being up after the ’26 season, so then they can kind of change rules in favour of everybody coming back.”
If that is accurate, it suggests Koepka’s earliest possible return would be 2027 – a timeline that might be seen as reasonable given how things have played out between both sides.
