Paddy Pimblett mocks Arman Tsarukyan after UFC 324 interim title fight

Paddy Pimblett’s first online reaction to his UFC 324 interim title fight vs. Justin Gaethje was to take a jab at fellow contender Arman Tsarukyan.

Tsarukyan (23-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) has not been hesitant to say Pimblett (23-3 MMA, 7-0 UFC) “sucks” and downgrade his skillset in the aftermath of his UFC Fight Night 265 main event win over Dan Hooker this past month. When it came time for the UFC to pick contenders to fight for an interim belt with champ Ilia Topuria taking a hiatus for personal reasons, though, Tsarukyan was the odd man out.

Pimblett will fight Gaethje (26-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) for interim 155-pound gold in the Jan. 24 headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (Paramount+), and the winner will face Topuria for the unified belt, according to UFC CEO Dana White. That leaves Tsarukyan’s title hopes looking grim, and Pimblett reminded him of that reality (via X):

Tsarukyan gave his first reaction shortly thereafter, and was perplexed by the news (via X):

Pimblett, No. 7 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie lightweight rankings, is coming off a TKO victory over Michael Chandler at UFC 314 in May. No. 5-ranked Gaethje, meanwhile, defeated Rafael Fiziev by unanimous decision in his most recent octagon appearance at UFC 313 in March.
