Ryggs Johnston shoots 74 Saturday at Open
Jul. 19—PORTRUSH, Northern Ireland — Playing the last three holes 3-over, Libby product Ryggs Johnston shot a 74 Saturday at the British Open, falling to a tie for 56th at 1-over for the tournament.
It was Johnston's second 74 of the weekend; on Friday he shot a 5-under 66 to climb into a tie for 17th.
He is in pretty good company: Jordan Spieth, who shot 72 Saturday, is also 1-over. Justin Leonard and Sergio Garcia are among five players at even par.
Johnston had an eagle on the par-5 No. 7 on Saturday; he also had double-bogleys on Nos. 2 and 16 and finished with a bogey on 18.
