Scottie Scheffler commits to these 2 PGA Tour events to start his 2026

Now we know where and when we'll see Scottie Scheffler play first in the new year. The world No. 1 and four-time PGA Tour Player of the Year is heading to California and then Arizona, the site of his first Tour victory.

On Wednesday, Scheffler made dual commitments, first to the American Express in La Quinta, California, and later in the day to the WM Phoenix Open. It was at TPC Scottsdale in 2022 that Scheffler broke through for his first PGA Tour win. He would go on to win three more times that year, including the Masters. It was the first of his 19 Tour wins.

Scottie Scheffler plays his shot from the 11th tee during the third round of the 2025 WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

Scheffler is not playing in the 2026 PGA Tour season opener, the Sony Open in Hawaii (Jan. 15-19), but he will be in Southern California for the AmEx alongside with four other of the top 10 ranked (and 27 of the top 50) players in the world.

Scheffler had played in The American Express each year since 2020, when he finished third. He was scheduled to play last year, but minor hand surgery after a cooking accident around Christmas a few weeks prior knocked Scheffler out of several early season events.

Two weeks after the AmEx will be the Phoenix Open, where Scheffler also won in 2023. A third win at TPC Scottsdale would tie him for most Phoenix Open wins, alongside Arnold Palmer, Gene Littler, Mark Calcavecchia and Phil Mickelson.

Scheffler has won at least two events each season for the last four seasons. He has collected 13 of his 19 wins in the last two years.
