Surprise! Demetrious Johnson to be inducted into the 2026 Hall of Fame
“Mighty Mouse” is finally getting his flowers.
During the UFC Seattle broadcast last night (Sat., March 28, 2026), it was officially announced that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this July during International Fight Week.
“Demetrious Johnson is the greatest flyweight of all-time,” UFC CEO Dana White said in a press release. “Demetrious was a great champion who had one of the most incredible careers in MMA, and his streak of 11 consecutive title defenses is one of the most remarkable records we’ve ever seen in professional sports. It will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.”

Johnson’s Hall of Fame resume speaks for itself.
He made his UFC debut with a win over Kid Yamamoto, then followed it up with a victory over former WEC champion Miguel Torres before falling short against Dominick Cruz in a bid for the UFC Bantamweight title — a loss that would stand as his only defeat in a seven-year stretch inside the promotion.
From there, Johnson’s run became legendary.
After a draw with Ian McCall in the UFC Flyweight tournament semifinal, Johnson won the rematch to advance to the finals at UFC 152, where he defeated Joseph Benavidez to become the inaugural UFC Flyweight champion.
He would go on to defend the title a record 11 consecutive times — a streak that cemented his legacy as the greatest flyweight in MMA history and one of the sport’s all-time greats, regardless of division.
Johnson’s reign finally ended in a razor-close split decision loss to Henry Cejudo. Rather than running it back, he was traded to ONE Championship in exchange for Ben Askren — the first trade in MMA history.
He went on to post a 5-1 record overseas, capturing a world title before ultimately retiring from competition.
Here are some of his stats per a UFC press release.
- Longest title reign in UFC flyweight history – 2,142 days (Second-longest in UFC history)
