Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Derrick Lewis preview

Cortes-Acosta (16-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) made five walks to the octagon in 2025, putting together a record of 4-1. After stopping Ryan Spann in March and winning a decision over Serghei Spivac, he dropped a fight on the cards to Sergei Pavlovich. The Dominician heavyweight then notched back-to-back, first-round bonus-earning stoppages against Ante Delija and Shamil Gaziev within three weeks' time.

Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC) only fought once last year, and only got in 35 seconds of work. In a July headliner at UFC on ESPN 70, "The Black Beast" made quick work of then-undefeated Tallison Teixeira. Lewis earned a title shot back in 2018 and has since gone 8-6 with six highlight finishes.
