What to know about the Simmons Bank Championship, the second leg of the PGA Tour Champions playoffs
The PGA Tour Champions postseason is in full swing, with the second of three Charles Schwab Cup Playoff events coming up.
There were 72 who qualified for the first event and just 54 who earned spots into this week's Simmons Bank Championship. From there, the field will be trimmed one last time for the finale.
Here's what you need to know about the second round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs.
Who's in the 2025 Simmons Bank Championship?
All of the top five players in the updated points standings will be at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas. That would be 1. Miguel Angel Jimenez, 2. Stewart Cink, 3. Ernie Els, 4. Steven Alker and 5. Thomas Bjorn. In addition, defending tournament champion Padraig Harrington is back. In fact, Harrington is the two-time defending champion and he'll look to improve on his current position at No. 6 in the points.
There are two notable names not in the field: Bernhard Langer, No. 24 in the points, and Kevin Sutherland, No. 45. That makes the field 52 players this week.
Where is the 2025 Simmons Bank Championship?
For the second year in a row, Pleasant Valley Country Club is the host venue. The par-72 golf course will play 7,101 yards this week. Joe Finger designed the course and brought in Jimmy Demaret and Byron Nelson as consultants. It opened in 1968.
Bubble watch for the Charles Schwab Cup
Only the top 36 golfers in the standings after the Simmons Bank concludes on Sunday will advance to Phoenix Country Club. Those 36 also secure their PGA Tour Champions cards for the 2026 season.

When is the Charles Schwab Cup Championship?
Those advancing to the finale will first enjoy a two-week break before heading to Phoenix. The Charles Schwab Cup Championship is Nov. 13-16 and is one of the few 72-hole tournaments on the circuit.
