Mike Perry itching to make BKFC return, likely done fighting MMA
Combat sports has missed out on some Mike Perry action this calendar year, but it looks like that may soon change.
Perry, BKFC's King of Violence champion, is ramping up training and looking to get back in the ring soon. The last time he was seen fighting was when he faced popular influencer Jake Paul in a boxing match back in July 2024. Since then, Perry's fighting career has been put on the back burner, as he's been focused on podcasting and getting his striking promotion, Dirty Boxing Championship, up and running.
Although Perry is happy with his new ventures, he's starting to get the itch to fight again.
"I want to, I want to. I have the urge." Perry told MMA Junkie. I'm hungry for it. I do train, and I was just talking to someone saying I want to turn up the heat in my training over the next eight weeks. I've had some calls and conversations, talked with a lot of powerful, important people, and it's always the same story: Get me back in the ring, I want to get back in front of the people and show the eyes these punches. It's all part of the big plate I got. It's taken a big portion, me trying to get back in that ring and do what needs to be done for me to do that. It's bound to happen."
Perry told MMA Junkie that he's still signed with BKFC and has three fights left with the promotion – despite co-owner Conor McGregor saying that he was fired following his loss to Paul.
"Platinum" says there's already early talks for a big return fight with a few different options. He hopes to not only fight in 2025, but do it more than once.
"I might have a big name in the hook," Perry said. "I've been having this name, it's just they might need more preparation, and it takes two sides to get it done. There's also another side I was just getting word on. If things are getting taken care of correctly, and I'm talent care of properly, then it might just be a little while longer before I get my chance to get back in the ring. The question shouldn't be: Will Platinum Mike Perry fight this year? It should be: Will he fight two times by the end of the year? So we'll see. … I'm literally fighting, scratching and clawing to force someone to give me something real. I think we're real close to that."
Although Perry's star power has taken off through his bareknuckle boxing career, he originally made his name fighting in the UFC, where he had many memorable finishes and wars. As far as MMA goes, Perry thinks that chapter is over with, unless a specific fight arises.
"The weight class at 185, I think that's a tough weight class for me in MMA," Perry explained. "If a big guy is on top of me I'm going to have to go and train with 225-pound Lyoto Machida and get some jiu-jitsu going, and I don't do MMA anymore. I punch these guys. If I train with these MMA guys, they'll do boxing with me because it's a big part of their sport, a lot of guys like to throw punches into the wrestling game or clinch game or those things.
"All the sports I might have an option in are really boxing. Except for Dillon Danis, he's the only one that's been trying to fight me in MMA. He tries to break people toes or something. If they allow face stomps, they have to allow face stomps, then I'll fight Dillon Danis in MMA."
