Fantastic photos as Alexandra Eala of the Philippines makes tennis history at US Open

For the first time, the US Open started on a Sunday, rather than the usual Monday when major tennis tournaments begin. The first day provided a memorable match for Alexandra Eala of the Philippines. The 75th ranked Eala upset 14th-seeded Clara Tauson 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (13-11) to become the first Philippines player to win a Grand Slam match in the Open era. "To be Filipino is something I take so much pride in," Eala said. "I don't have a home tournament, so to be able to have this community here at the US Open, I'm so grateful they made me feel like I'm home."
