Blue Jay tennis team competes at 2025 State Tournament
Oct. 9—GRAND FORKS — Despite not winning a match, the Jamestown High School tennis team was playing in the NDHSAA Tennis Team State Dual Tournament on Thursday.
It was a great accomplishment for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays have not been to the Team State Dual Tournament since 2020. Jamestown entered the tourney as the No. 4 seed out of the West Region and faced top-seeded West Fargo Sheyenne in the opening round of the tournament.
The Jays fell 5-0 to the Mustangs in round one. Jamestown then faced Bismarck Legacy in the consolation semis, but lost 3-2 to the Sabers.
"I'm super proud of how they played today," JHS head coach Isaac Mimong said of his team. "We had two very difficult matches and the boys kept their composure regardless of the score. I saw a lot of positives from each player that I am excited to build upon next season."
Jamestown's Braxton Burkett and Luke LeFevre will kick off doubles play on Friday. The duo is the No. 1 seed out of the West Region and will face Duncan Metcalf and Grayden Schultz of Fargo Davies on Friday at 10 a.m. at Choice Health and Fitness in Grand Forks. Metcalf and Schultz are seeded eighth.
