PFL announces inaugural title as two fighters resurface after hiatuses

A second title will be on the line during the 2026 kickoff event for PFL.

The promotion's inaugural welterweight championship will be up for grabs Feb. 7 at PFL Road to Dubai. The two men vying for the crown will be former Bellator welterweight champion Ramazan Kuramagomedov and 2024 season champion Shamil Musaev, the promotion announced Thursday.

The bout will serve as the co-main event to the lightweight title fight between champion Usman Nurmagomedov (20-0) and Alfie Davis (20-5-1) at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Kuramagomedov, 29, was the final champion in Bellator welterweight history. He won the title against Jason Jackson by unanimous decision in November 2023 in the third-to-last Bellator event ever. That was in June 2024 and he has not competed since.

Musaev, 31, turned into a breakthrough star for PFL during the 2024 season with three knockout wins in four fights. He defeated a who's who of top PFL welterweights, including Logan Storley, Murad Ramazanov (twice), and Magomed Umalatov to win the season championship. Musaev has not competed since November 2024.
