Lynch sets sights on world title in pro ranks
Commonwealth gold medallist Reese Lynch is now targetting world titles in the professional ranks after amateur success.
Lynch, 24, will defend his unbeaten start to his nascent pro career against England's Matthew King, 30, at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow next month.
A gold medal winner in Birmingham four years ago at light welterweight, Lynch missed out on the Paris Olympics in 2024 with a rib injury.
The Fauldhouse fighter turned pro and has won his first three bouts, and says he is embracing the pressure of earning a living from boxing.
"There is always going to be pressure, coming from that good background – people are expecting you to do well but pressure is what you make of it," Lynch told BBC Scotland.
"If you build yourself off it and you just focus on yourself, then it shouldn't worry you too much as long as you are getting the outcomes and performing the way you can."
Lynch's bout with King is on the undercard of fellow Scot Nathaniel Collins' European Featherweight title re-match against Spain's Cristobal Lorente.
It is a stage Lynch hopes to reach one day, as he chases the dream achieved by former undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylor.
"The goal is just to make enough money to sort my family out but also winning world titles," Lynch added.
"I want to be able to say that I have been a world champion as a professional and made enough money to sort my family out for the future.
"I would say it is achievable, as long as I keep the mindset and the training right and keep sticking in, then I don't see what can stop me.
"Josh [Taylor] did everything in the sport and did it well, and he is a role model to all these Scottish boxers.
"So even doing half of the stuff that Josh did is definitely reaching the top."
