Alex de Minaur picks five tennis legends he’d want to play Laver Cup with
Roger Federer’s Laver Cup has carved out a unique spot on the ATP Tour calendar, bringing a Ryder Cup-style feel to men’s tennis as Team Europe faces off against Team World.
The event first took place in 2017 and has been held every year since, moving between cities like Prague, London and San Francisco.
Alex de Minaur has played in five editions of the tournament already, becoming something of a regular, and recently spoke about which players from tennis history he would pick if he could build his ideal team.
Alex de Minaur Names His Ultimate Laver Cup Lineup
De Minaur went unbeaten across all three of his matches at the 2025 Laver Cup, picking up seven points for Team World along the way.
The Australian played a key role in helping Andre Agassi’s Team World get past Yannick Noah’s Team Europe, contributing to a tight 13-11 win.
During an appearance on the event’s social media channels, De Minaur was asked who he’d select if he could put together a dream Team World squad for the Laver Cup.
While none of those players has featured in an official match at the Laver Cup, some do have ties to the event. Agassi and Rafter are currently captains of Team World, while Rod Laver himself is the namesake of the tournament.
Lleyton Hewitt and Pete Sampras haven’t been directly involved with the competition just yet, but their names often come up when fans discuss dream lineups.
Alex de Minaur’s strong Laver Cup record
It’s no wonder de Minaur has remained so involved with the Laver Cup, given how well he’s performed there.
The Australian has featured in the event twice, once in 2022 and again in 2025. Both years, Team World came out on top.
Over those two tournaments, he’s played five matches across both singles and doubles and has only lost once.
De Minaur has earned eight points for Team World across his appearances. It makes sense that he’s back on the team for 2026.
