Gina Carano has been posting video of her training MMA again, and everyone is curious what she’s up to.

The 43-year-old Carano has been out of the sport for over 15 years. She walked away after getting knocked out by Cris Cyborg back in 2009 and never looked back. It helped that she had a burgeoning Hollywood career to cross over to. But now she’s back in the gym, training at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas. For what? General fitness? Or one last big payday?

Syndicate MMA head coach John Wood spoke with MMA Fighting recently, and played a little coy when asked about Carano, but eventually said enough to pour gas on rumors of a Gina return fight.

“Do I think she can still fight? Absolutely. Do I think she’s still got pop and can lay it on somebody? Absolutely,” he said. “Is that what’s happening? I don’t know. That’s a Gina Carano question.”

“She’s back in there everyday, she’s got that fire lit and she’s training her butt off,” Wood continued. “It’s been really cool to have here in there. She’s a legend in the sport, not just in women’s MMA but the sport in general, so it’s really awesome to have someone like that … To have them in the gym and to be able to share time with them and training has been really, really cool.”

“I expect you might hear some things at some point in time here.”

Gina Carano is one half of a rumored women’s superfight with Ronda Rousey, who has also been sharing clips back in the gym and training again. Would the UFC put this fight together? They already tried back in 2015, and that ended with Dana White calling Carano a ‘bitch.’ Water under the bridge? Or could someone else be interested?

There are reports that a Carano vs. Rousey fight could be a boxing match, which instantly makes it more interesting competitively. In MMA, Rousey tosses Carano on her head in under 10 seconds. In boxing, Rousey’s questionable fundamentals and even more questionable concussion history make the fight much more competitive.
