Briton Neal Skupski and American mixed doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk missed the chance to compete in a second consecutive French Open final with defeat in the last four.
The pair, who have won two Wimbledon titles together, lost 3-6 7-6 (7-2) [12-10] to American fourth seeds Taylor Townsend and Evan King in a tense encounter on Court Simonne-Mathieu.
Skupski and Krawczyk lost last year's final at Roland Garros to Germany's Laura Siegemund and France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Skupski had already booked his place in the men's doubles semis on Tuesday with compatriot Joe Salisbury.
Fellow Briton Luke Johnson was unable to replicate that success alongside Dutch partner Sander Arends after they missed out on a semi-final spot to 16th seeds Hugo Nys of Monaco and Roger-Vasselin, losing 6-4 3-6 6-2.
