Tennis star Coco Gauff’s performance at the Berlin Open didn’t end on a high note, but she made sure to serve up stylish looks on the court.
Following her victory at the French Open, the 21-year-old failed to score big on the grass court and ultimately lost to China’s Wang Xinyu in Berlin.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, she didn’t let the outcome discourage her; instead, she chose to share the moment on social media.
In a new Instagram post, she shared a closer look not only at her outfit but also at the fierce game face behind it.
“The rare tennis pic where my face actually looks normal,” she wrote.
The two-time Grand Slam winner matched the grass court with her game-day look in a Miu Miu and New Balance collaboration.
Gauff’s outfit featured a white and dark green color palette, a nod to the surface she was playing on. She arrived at the Steffi Graf Stadium in a track jacket paired with a pleated skirt.
During the game, she went for a white cropped top with green details. Moreover, she also matched her accessories from the headband to the wristbands for a tonal look.
Meanwhile, the comment section was filled with fans gushing over her game face and stylish fit.
“That outfit is [fire emoji]” a user said.
“Big credit for you, New Balance and Miu Miu, for creating this stunning outfit. This is true art!!!” a fan added.
On the other hand, one follower didn’t hold back and pointed out how the tennis star repeatedly adjusted her outfit during the match.
“This outfit is a big NO. You kept adjusting it the whole time. They need to go back to the drawing board,” a commenter said.
The comment prompted Gauff to respond candidly and explain that it was not a wardrobe issue.
“I always adjust my skirts or headbands not because it doesn’t fit, it’s just something to do with my hands to not crash out on court, redirecting my focus onto something else instead of negative thoughts. Almost every outfit I’m always moving something around. Y’all gotta think first,” she replied.
The reigning Roland Garros champion also responded to a fan who urged her to rewear the kit.
“Manifesting a re-wear of this outfit because it was everything! Please consider it!!!” Gauff’s follower said, to which she replied, “New balance and I stay on a tighttt schedule. So it’s most likely not coming back.”
After the Berlin Open, she will return to the grass courts for Wimbledon, which begins on June 30.
