Former Coach Gives Reality Check on Novak Djokovic’s Pursuit for 25th Grand Slam
Even though plenty of people are starting to wonder if Novak Djokovic has already won his last Grand Slam, his former coach Goran Ivanisevic clearly doesn’t see it that way. Djokovic is still stuck on 24 major titles, tied with Margaret Court, and the longer the wait goes on, the more questions there are about whether he can ever get that record-breaking 25th Slam.
Age, injuries, and the rise of younger stars have made the challenge tougher than ever, but Ivanisevic believes writing Djokovic off would be a mistake. In his view, the Serbian still has enough left in the tank to make one more run at history and maybe sooner than people think.
Goran Ivanisevic: “If I hadn’t worked with Novak Djokovic, I would’ve said a 25th Grand Slam isn’t possible. Since I’ve known him, the words ‘I can’t’ and ‘impossible’ don’t exist with him. If he’s mentally ready and focused, there’s nothing he can’t do.”pic.twitter.com/fLibps7th8

In a recent interview Ivanisevic said, “If I hadn’t worked with Novak Djokovic, I would’ve said a 25th Grand Slam isn’t possible. Since I’ve known him, the words ‘I can’t’ and ‘impossible’ don’t exist with him. If he’s mentally ready and focused, there’s nothing he can’t do.”
Is It Now or Never for Novak for Number 25?
Novak Djokovic has already done almost everything possible in tennis, but one record still sits just out of reach. The Serbian legend remains tied with Margaret Court on 24 Grand Slam titles, and the longer he goes without winning another major, the louder the questions become about whether he will ever get number 25.
At 37, Djokovic is no longer in the same position he was a few years ago. He has had to deal with more injuries, more recovery time, and tougher competition from younger stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who have taken over the biggest tournaments recently. There is also the physical challenge of getting through seven matches at a Grand Slam while potentially having to beat both of them in the final rounds.
Even so, Djokovic has continued to show flashes that remind everyone why he can never be counted out. He still reached another final at the Australian Open, and when he is healthy, he remains one of the few players capable of matching Alcaraz and Sinner on the biggest stages.
That is why former coach Goran Ivanisevic still believes Djokovic has another major title left in him.
