Jack Della Maddalena opens up on ‘boring’ Makhachev fight: ‘He’s good at pinning people’
Jack Della Maddalena is a man of few words, but he’s finally saying a little about his one-sided loss to Islam Makhachev.
“JDM” was absolutely drubbed by Makhachev at UFC 320, who took the Australian’s UFC welterweight title with little difficulty. It was one of the most one-sided fights of the year, made up of Makhachev getting on top of Della Maddalena and Jack being unable to even begin to escape.
We haven’t heard much from him since the loss, but now “JDM” is getting back out there by hanging around with Kick streamer n3on. You may remember n3on from the time Nate Diaz’s posse chased him down and threatened to kick his ass over disrespectful questions during a presser. He was also nearly banned from UFC events for life after threatening to ‘talk his s–t’ at Donald Trump.
Things have chilled out since then and n3on is now regularly hobknobbing with fighters from the UFC roster, including Jack Della Maddalena. The two spend the day together eating, training, and even having a little party on a yacht. During those several hours, Della Maddalena muttered a few things about his last defeat at the hands of Makhachev.
“My last fight was a bit boring,” Della Maddalena said when n3on complimented him for his exciting fight style.
“Obviously his wrestling is good,” he said of Makhachev later. “His top position is good, right? He’s good at just holding people down, pinning. He’s really good at pinning people, and I got stuck there.”
Della Maddalena revealed that he’s hoping to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov next, because a fight against “Nomad” would put him in a position to get back to Islam Makhachev.
“[A rematch] is the dream,” he said. “And that’s why I want to fight Shavkat, because beating someone like him, you get thrown right back in there.”
Shavkat Rakhmonov hasn’t fought since a win over Ian Machado Garry in December 2024 that trashed his knee. The Kazakh fighter is aiming for a fight in early 2026, so the timeline could work out and give Jack Della Maddalena what he wants.
