Liberty Reacts to Coco Gauff's Appearance at Chicago Sky Game

Coco Gauff turned heads courtside Tuesday night as the tennis star made a surprise appearance at the New York Liberty’s home game against the Chicago Sky.

The Liberty, still undefeated this WNBA season, had another reason to celebrate and they made it clear on Instagram, calling Gauff and team mascot Ellie the “LINK UP OF THE YEAR!!!”

Fresh off her historic win at the French Open, where she became the first American woman to win since Serena Williams in 2015, the 21-year-old tennis champion brought her star power courtside at Barclays Center.

She was joined by her brother Cameron and Vanessa Bryant, widow of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, as the Liberty cruised to an 85-66 victory over the Sky.

In photos from the game, Gauff was all smiles, flashing a peace sign. She wore a blue jacket, ripped black jeans and New Balance sneakers. Around her neck hung an infinity chain and her hair was styled in a sleek single braid.

Gauff’s court appearance came just days after her win in Paris, but that didn’t stop her from engaging with fans and waving to the crowd during a timeout. Even the WNBA’s official X account couldn’t hold back.

“2x Grand Slam champion – Coco Gauff is courtside in New York,” the WNBA wrote.

As the Liberty rolled to a 9-0 record and Coco Gauff soaked in the action with a smile it was clear: this was more than just a game, it was a celebration of how far women’s sports have come.
