Ohio State men's tennis player named ITA Midwest Rookie of the Year
Ohio State redshirt-freshman Brandon Carpico was named the ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday.
Carpico was a star immediately this year, leading the team in with a 36-6 doubles record and also notching a team best 49 combined victories this season. He reached the finals of the Big Ten Doubles Championship, but before that, took home titles at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the Fighting Irish Mini Duals. He and Nikita Filin teamed up to go 21-4 this spring with a pair of ranked wins and an 8-2 mark in Big Ten matches.
Carpico hails from Gahanna, a suburb of Columbus. He becomes the tenth Buckeye to win the ITA Midwest Rookie of the Year, becoming the first to do it since JJ Tracy took home the honor in 2021.

Carpico not only excelled on the court, he hit the ground running academically as well, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors and becoming an OSU Scholar-Athlete.
