Rocket Classic Prize Money and Payout Breakdown as Aldrich Potgieter Wins Three-Way Playoff originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The results are in for the 2025 Rocket Classic and it was a drama-filled finish with a three-way playoff extending five holes and over an hour of extra play after regulation that would decide the winner.
Six-time PGA Tour winner, Chris Kirk, 40, had a putt to win the tournament in regulation on the 72nd hole, but a par would open the door for Max Greyserman, 30, and Aldrich Potgieter, 20, to force a playoff.
A bogey on the second playoff hole would eliminate Kirk from the playoff, leaving Greyserman and Potgieter to battle it out, both of whom were chasing their first PGA Tour win. With many near misses from each player, it would be Aldrich Potgieter who would make the deciding move on the 77th hole, pouring in a 17-foot birdie putt on the par-3 15th hole to win the 2025 Rocket Classic.
The 2025 Rocket Classic has the largest purse in the tournament’s seven-year history, rocketing to $ 9.6 million dollars, up from $ 8.8 million in 2024.
Here is the breakdown of earnings from the three-way playoff:
- $ 1,728,000 – Aldrich Potgieter
- $ 854,400 – Max Greyserman
- $ 854,400 – Chris Kirk
Michael Thorbjornsen and Jake Knapp finished in a tie for fourth place, each taking home $ 432,000. Nico Echavarria and Jackson Suber finished tied for sixth place, each earning $ 336,000.
In addition to the top prize payout, Potgieter secured his first PGA Tour win, making him the youngest player from South Africa to win on the PGA Tour. The win also moves Potgieter to 36th in the FedExCup standings.
