Sergio Pettis expects PFL bantamweight tournament champion with win over Raufeon Stots
Sergio Pettis is looking to add another major MMA title to his family's name.
Pettis (23-7) meets former teammate Raufeon Stots (21-2) on June 27 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
The former Bellator champion, who has dropped two straight to Patchy Mix and Kyoji Horiguchi, hopes a win over Stots leads to a title fight against the PFL bantamweight tournament champion.
"Right now they promised me two fights in 2025," Pettis told MMA Junkie Radio. "So personally, I'm assuming if me and Raufeon go at it, the winner of that will possibly get a title shot against whoever wins this tournament. I'm not sure if that's what they're pushing for or the dynamic of what they're trying to go for."
Unlike notable Bellator names such as Patricio Freire, Aaron Pico, and Patchy Mix, Pettis isn't looking to jump ship from the PFL. He aims to claim the PFL title to add to both his and brother Anthony Pettis' title collection.
"Other than that, I will be in the tournament next year," Pettis continued. "I'm with them for a bit. I've committed to the PFL, and I've got a goal of becoming their champion. I want to be the first two brothers in the MMA world to have the UFC belt, WEC belt, Bellator belt, and the PFL belt. So that's the goal right now."
