UAE Warriors 64 features title triple-header with Khabib protege Amru Magomedov headlining
Amru Magomedov will headline another marquee event for UAE Warriors.
Magomedov (9-0) defends his lightweight title against Martun Mezhlumyan (15-3) in the UAE Warriors 64 main event on Oct. 22 from ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. A person with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the bookings but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Magomedov, a protege of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, will look to notch his third title defense after finishes of Ali Kabdulla and ex-UFC fighter Alex da Silva. Meanwhile, Armenia's Mezhlumyan has won five of his past six fights.
Also taking place on the card is a vacant bantamweight title fight between Asaf Chopurov (8-0) and former EFC and ARES champion Demarte Pena (16-3), as well as a flyweight title-unification bout between champion Iago Ribeiro (13-3) and interim champ Muhidin Abubaker (10-1).
UAE Warriors 64 is on the same week as UFC 321, which takes place Oct. 25 and is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane.
