UFC 2025 rewind: One memorable (or forgotten) moment from every event | ‘The Diamond’ walks away, Pt. 3

With 42 total Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events throughout 2025 — on top of all of the other promotions such as Professional Fighters League (PFL), Dirty Boxing, and Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) — combat sports fans have probably forgotten about many of the wild moments that happened throughout the action-packed year.

From knockouts and post-fight interviews to funny in-cage spots, or maybe you’re a hardcore mixed martial arts (MMA) freak and remember everything.

Well, either way, we’ve got you covered.

In part three of UFC 2025, “Rewind,” which runs from UFC Nashville (July 12, 2025) to UFC 320 (Oct. 4, 2025), we look back at some of the most memorable moments from that specific event timeline, including Dustin Poirier retiring, Khamzat Chimaev finally winning gold, and “Poatan” exacting revenge.

PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE | PART FOUR

UFC Nashville: ‘Lewis vs. Teixeira’ – June 12, 2025 – Bridgestone Arena, Nashville

Brazil’s Valter Walker broke out this year as a Heavyweight to watch, and at UFC Nashville, he scored his third straight heel-hook on Kennedy Nzechukwu, tapping him in 54 seconds.

Spoiler: He scored ANOTHER one three months later (see it here).

UFC 318: ‘Holloway vs. Poirier 3’ – July 19, 2025 – Smoothie King Center, New Orleans

BMF champion Max Holloway exacted his revenge on Dustin Poirier at UFC 318, defeating him via unanimous decision in their trilogy, retiring him in the process (watch highlights).

UFC Abu Dhabi: ‘Whittaker vs. de Ridder’ – July 26, 2025 – Etihad Arena, UAE

UFC Abu Dhabi saw UFC history take place as Steven Nguyen scored a record-setting six knockdowns of Mohammad Yahya — who got absolutely battered and sent to the hospital immediately after the fight.

UFC Vegas 108: ‘Taira vs. Park’ – Aug. 2, 2025 – UFC Apex, Las Vegas

UFC Vegas 108 had two fights that could easily be contenders for 2025 Fight of the Year:
Chris Duncan vs. Mateusz Rebecki (watch the fight here because I can’t embed it) and Esteban Ribovics vs. Elves Brener

Oh, and both fights won Fight of the Night

UFC Vegas 109: ‘Dolidze vs. Hernandez’ – Aug. 9, 2025 – UFC Apex, Las Vegas

Elijah Smith finally announced himself to the Bantamweight division when he slammed Toshiomi Kazama through the canvas — doing his best impression of Rampage Jackson.

UFC 319: ‘du Plessis vs. Chimaev – Aug 19, 2025 – United Center, Chicago

Khamzat Chimaev finally won UFC gold at UFC 319; however, Lerone Murphy’s spinning back elbow stole the show, especially because Aaron Pico’s debut was highly anticipated and he was winning the fight … until he wasn’t.

UFC Shanghai: ‘Walker vs. Zhang – Aug. 23, 2025 – Shanghai Indoor Stadium, China

Kyle Daukaus returned to the UFC after being out of the promotion for two years in emphatic fashion as he knocked out Michel Pereira in 43 seconds.

UFC Paris: ‘Imavov vs. Borralho – Sept. 6, 2025 – Accor Arena, Paris

UFC Paris was violent. The event set a new UFC record for the most knockouts in a single event, registering nine knockouts. However, in the co-main event, there was a submission, which was Benoit Saint-Denis cooling the extreme hype of Mauricio Ruffy, tapping him in the second round.

Noche UFC 3: ‘Lopes vs. Silva’ – Sept 13, 2025 – Frost Bank Center, Texas

2025 was the year of the spinning elbow knockout, and Noche UFC 3’s main event ended in one too as Diego Lopesstopped an ultra-aggressiveJean Silva right in his tracks.

UFC Perth: ‘Ulberg vs. Reyes – Sept. 28, 2025 – RAC Arena, Australia

Poor Jake Matthews kind of got screwed at UFC Perth.

Referee Jim Perdios briefly stopped the Neil Magny vs. Matthews fight at the end of Round 1, thinking Magny was out in a guillotine, but reversed the call after the horn. Magny rallied in Round 3 to submit Matthews with a D’Arce choke.

UFC 320: ‘Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2’ – Oct. 4, 2025 – T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas

There were a lot of options for UFC 320, but anytime I get a chance to mention Khalil Rountree vs. Jiri Prochazka again … I’m going to do it.

In a fight that he was losing, Prochazka scored a come-from-behind brutal knockout in the third round, possibly securing himself another title shot — if things fall into place.
