UFC's Jon Anik to lead play-by-play for Canelo vs. Crawford boxing event

Lead UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik has long expressed his desire to dip his toe into other sports, and now he will get a chance to show what he's got on an enormous stage.

It was revealed Friday that Anik will utilize his skillset for combat sports outside of MMA when as the lead man in the booth for the boxing super fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, which takes place Sept. 13 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and streams on Netflix.

Joining Anik, who has history calling boxing in the mid-2000s, on the commentary will be longtime boxing pundit and former ESPN "First Take" co-host Max Kellerman. More announcements on the broadcast team were said to be made in the near future.

Alvarez and Crawford recently concluded a three-city media tour to build hype for their boxing match, which will be the first promoted by UFC CEO Dana White and his upstart Zuffa Boxing brand in collaboration with Saudi Arabia's Turki Al-Sheikh.
