NEWARK, N.J. – The UFC 316 pre-fight press conference took place Thursday in advance of promotion's third consecutive yearly stop in "The Garden State."

After taking questions from the media in front of a rowdy crowd, all five main card matchups, which will meet Saturday on ESPN+ pay-per-view from Prudential Center following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+, had faceoffs for the first time on fight week.

That included the title-fight headliners of Merab Dvalishvili (19-4 MMA, 12-2 UFC) vs. Sean O'Malley (18-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) and Julianna Peña (11-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) vs. Kayla Harrison (18-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), as well as Joe Pyfer (13-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) vs. Kelvin Gastelum (18-9 MMA, 13-9 UFC), Mario Bautista (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) vs. Patchy Mix (20-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Vicente Luque (23-10-1 MMA, 16-6 UFC) vs. Kevin Holland (27-13 MMA, 14-10 UFC).
