Women's Tennis Star Ana Ivanović Files For Divorce At 38
Although the WTA Tour is firmly in the offseason, Ana Ivanovic is making headlines this Wednesday.
Ivanovic, the former No. 1 women's tennis player in the world, had an incredible career on the WTA Tour. She won 15 singles titles, which includes the 2008 French Open. Unfortunately for the talented Serbian, she was unable to get back to another Grand Slam final. She did, however, win the year-end WTA Tournament of Champions in 2010 and 2011.
In 2016, Ivanovic announced her retirement from professional tennis. She mentioned her health as the main reason for her decision.
"Seeing those highs in any professional sport requires top physical form, and it's well-known I have been hampered by injuries," Ivanovic said. "I can only play if it's up to my own high standards, and I cannot. All I can say is that I have lived my dreams, and I really hope to help others do so as well."
Off the court, Ivanovic has been with former Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger since 2014. They got married two years later and have three children together – Luka, Leon and Theo.
Ivanovic has filed for divorce, according to German outlet BILD. The couple reportedly split in July due to "irreconcilable differences."
Details regarding their split aren't pretty.
According to BILD, there was an “affair” dating back to 2024. It was reported that Schweinsteiger was caught kissing another woman this past June.
"This prompted reports they had called time on their romance, with a split all but confirmed a few months later in June when Schweinsteiger was shockingly spotted kissing a new woman in Mallorca," Daily Mail wrote. "Photos and videos shared by BILD appeared to show the midfielder relaxing on a beach with a married woman, thought to be named Silva, who he was 'hugging and kissing'. The mystery woman was reported to be from Bulgaria, where Schweinsteiger resides, and has two sons, who attend the same school as his children."
As of this time, neither Ivanovic nor Schweinsteiger have said anything about their divorce.
